History of Polo in Poland
The history of Polish polo goes back more than a century to 1911, when the first match was played in Lancut. Inspired by a game learned while studying at Oxford, Alfred and Jerzy Potocki brought polo to Poland, instilling a passion that has endured for generations. It is this passion that has led to a dynamic revival of the discipline and nearly a hundred actively playing polo players in Poland.

Polo is one of the oldest and most elite sports in the world, played on horseback. It is often referred to as the “game of kings,” as it has been popular with monarchs and aristocracy for centuries – from Persia, to the British royal family, to today’s elite.
The polo match takes place on a huge field – its area is equivalent to as many as 7 football fields. The game involves two teams of four people, and the goal is to put the ball in the opponent’s goal with the help of a long stick.
